Criticism

A comic. The scene: a scene with fluffy white clouds in the background. Character 1 is: a simple cartoon person. Character 2 is: a simple cartoon person. Character 1: You know what really bothers me? The word "criticize". It has two completely different meanings. I hate it when things get lumped together that shouldn't go together!! Character 2: Wait, what two different meanings? Character 1: To "criticize" something can mean to analyse it and point out its logical flaws, or it can just mean to say that the thing is bad. Character 2: And...? Character 1: Those are completely different things! They shouldn't be lumped together. If anything, it's a compliment to want to work through someone else's ideas thoughtfully and carefully. Character 2: I guess some people might consider that to be a compliment. Character 1: And yet if you point out that a person made even one mistake, they freak out because it means they're "bad". Do you have any idea how trite and simplistic you'd have to be to never be wrong about *anything*?
